Class Types
Pre-Ballet
Pre-Ballet is a class for students aged 3-6 years old, depending on the experience and abilities of the student. In this class, they will learn how to be in a classroom setting, listen to an instructor, be kind to others, listen to hear rhythm, beats, and patterns in music, all in a positive environment.
Ballet 1
Ballet 1 is for students aged 5-8 years old, depending on the experience and abilities of the student. This class is to continue the training in ballet steps, memorisation, positivity, work ethic, and movement expression.
Ballet 2
Ballet 2 is a class for students aged 7-10 years old, depending on the experience and abilities of the student. In this class, the dancers begin to develop strength, flexibility, choreography memorisation, and more advanced steps in a positive environment.
Ballet 3
Ballet 3 is for students aged 9-17 years old who have advanced to more difficult steps, choreography, and conversations about dance and are eligible for pre-pointe or pointe classes.
Pre-Pointe
Students will prepare for pointe in this class with Theraband and strengthening exercises on the floor and at the barre. This class will further develop the muscles needed to dance on pointe. Dancing on pointe requires proper spine alignment, turnout from the hips, strong ankle strength, proper foot-pointing technique, and good balance. In Pre-Pointe, students will work on strengthening calf muscles, ankles, and the arches of the feet.
Pointe
Pointe is a part of the classical ballet technique where dancers who are strong in their ballet technique dance in special shoes called pointe shoes. Pointe dancers perform classical ballet in the shoes that are structured to allow them to rise to the tips of their toes.
Dancers are required to take a pre-pointe class to make sure they have proper strength and placement. They are then evaluated to be approved to go into pointe shoes.
Tap
In this class, the students learn the basic movements of tap dancing and listen to the sounds they are making with their feet. They evaluate the sounds and find rhythms while strengthening the feet and ankles.
Jazz 1
Jazz is for ages 5-9 years old, depending on their experience and skills. Our beginner jazz classes will introduce the fundamentals of jazz dance by taking them through different stretches, across the floor exercises, listening and freestyle exercises, and centre combinations with age-appropriate music.
Jazz 2
Jazz is for ages 9-16 years old, depending on their experience and skills. Classes focus on syncopated rhythms, body isolations, and precision. Students will begin class with a warm-up, progress to across-the-floor exercises, and end with learning choreography.
Acrobatics
Acro is for ages 6 and up, where participants begin to learn the basics of tricks, partner work, and the fundamentals of acrobatic dance. This class begins by developing the muscles and flexibility required for most moves. As the class grows and keeps track of progress, they will continue with more complicated movements.
Adult Ballet
In this class, adults work on the basics of ballet, balance, alignment, coordination and more. In this space, we support growth and have no judgment for where you start. Do what you can, have fun, and let’s learn together.
